Mar. 1 -31 - Throughout the month of March, Curves of Mountain Home will waive membership fees if you donate a bag of groceries. All donated food will go to Mountain Home Food Basket.

Mar. 11 - The Hope and Healing series continues at the OMC Parkway Classroom at 6PM. The Hope and Healing Series helps friends and relatives deal with people who have addiction issues. For more information about Hope and Healing or OMC Behavioral Healthcare, call 417-257-6762.

Mar. 13 - The Monster Truck & Motorsport Spectacular will have two shows at the West Plains Civic Center, one at 2PM and 7:30PM. Gates open at 1PM and 6PM. For tickets call Ticketmaster or call the West Plains Civic Center at 417-256-8087.

Mar. 13 - The West Plains Regional Animal Shelter is having their annual bowling tournament at 10AM and March 15 at 7PM at the Lightning Bowl. There will be a silent auction and door prizes. The cost is $75.00 per 5 person team. For more info call 255-2695 or 256-8438.

Mar. 13 - AmVets Post 98 in West Plains is having an auction at 2PM, with a dinner at corned beef dinner at 5PM and a dance from 7-11PM. Their post is on CR 6070 in West Plains.

Mar. 13 - The Rotary Club of Willow Springs is holding their 2nd Annual Corned Beef and Cabbage Dinner from 5-7PM at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church Hall. For tickets or information call Jim Vandenbosch at 469-0145 or Dennis Sokol at 469-0453. Adult tickets, $7; Seniors, $6; Children, $5.

Mar. 13 - World League Wrestling will be at the Summersville High School Gym. Doors open at 6, matches start at 7PM. Save $2 and buy tickets in advance at these locations: Community Bank, all three branches, Stop ‘N Spot in Summersville, and Fast Stop in Eminence.

Mar. 13 - There will be a Quilt Show at the Westside Family Life Center in Willow Springs from 8:00AM-3:00PM.If you have questions, call Cindy Kingsley at 469-0242 or call the church at 469-3360.

Mar. 13 - A work day will be held at the West Plains Community Garden, located at the corner of Lincoln and Olden, beginning at 10AM. Those who are planning to have a plot or just wanting to help get the garden ready for spring planting are encouraged to attend. Also on the 13th, plots will be assigned in the garden on a first-come, first-served basis. Those who are wanting a plot but have not had the opporutnity to reserve one may sign up on the work day.

Mar. 13-14 - The West Plains American Legion Merchants baseball program will hold tryouts at 1PM at Lions Field in West Plains. For more information, call Bob Joyce at 293-3209 or Gary York at 293-3727.

Mar. 13 - The Animal Shelter of Texas County is holding the Lucky Dog Cool Cat Gala at the Community Building at the Texas County Fairground in Houston. The event starts at 6:00PM. Come for an evening of good entertainment, good food and good prizes. Tickets are $50.00 each and must be purchased in advance. Tickets are available at the Houston Chamber of Commerce.

Mar. 15 - Colton's Steakhouse of West Plains will be donating a portion of their proceeds that day to the West Plains Sluggers to offset tournament costs.

Mar. 17 - There will be a blood drive from 10AM-4PM at the OMC Parkway Classroom.

Mar. 18 - A donkey basketball game will be held at the Summersville High School Gym at 6PM. Tickets are $8 in advance, and $10 at the game. There will be a Silent Auction that night, Funnel Cakes and Refreshments will be sold also. Proceeds will go for Summersville Senior Class Trip to Disney World

Mar. 18-20 - The 13th Annual Sowbug Roundup, which helps educate and instruct in flyfishing, will be held in Mountain Home. Admission is $5 adults for all three days; free for those 12 and younger with parent. For more info visit wwwnortharkansasflyfishing.org or call 870-491-5520.

Mar. 20 - Birch Tree Baseball sign-ups will be held from 12-2PM at Reaser's Field. Cost is $20.00, each child will receive baseball shirt and hat as well as a trophy at the end of the season. Mar. 21 - The Rover Gun Club will have a trap and skeet shoot to benefit the West Plains FFA from 1-5PM at the Rover Gun Club off of Highway 63. For more information call 764-1024.

Mar. 21 - A Community Seed and Plant Swap will be held from 2-4PM at Above Massage, 206 N Walnut St in Willow Springs. It is a totally FREE event for the public to allow community members to share seeds, plants and gardening advice. Information at 417-469-0293

Mar. 23 - The Lippizaner Stallions will perform in the West Plains Civic Center Arena.

Mar. 23 - The West Plains chapter of the National Active and Retired Federal Employees will be meeting at noon at the Grand Buffet restaurant across from Wal Mart in West Plains. Howell County Commissioner Larry Spence will be the guest speaker.

Mar. 26 - A community CPR course will be held at the Parkway Classroom of OMC. The cost of the course is $25. For more info, call 257-6793.

Mar. 27 - A hunter education class will be held at the Senior Citizens Center in Alton from 8AM-7PM. Call 417-778-9931 to reserve a seat. You must be 11 years old or older to participate.

Mar. 27 - The Junior Auxiliary Easter Egg Hunt will be at 11AM at Cooper Park in Mountain Home. Rain date is April 3.

Mar. 27 - A benefit volleyball tournament will be held in Willow Springs. The cost is $100 per team. For more information call Jake at 417-252-0097.

Apr. 1 - A Community Easter Egg Hunt sponsored by Birch Tree Place will be held at Birch Tree Elementary School from 1:30-3PM. For more information contact Birch Tree Place at 573-292-3212.

Apr. 3 - The First Baptist Church of Mountain Home, located on Spring Street, will be hosting a free Easter EGGstravaganza from 10AM-2PM

Apr. 9 - This spring's qualification shoot for retired law enforcement officers will be held at the Firing Range on Baxter CR 782, which is off State Highway 201 North of the Pigeon Creek area. Retired officers wishing to qualify with their handguns are required to come to the Baxter County Sheriff's Administration Offices and fill out the application and waiver form. There will be a cost of $10. Officers must bring their own ammo.

Apr. 10 - First National Bank & Trust is having a Schwan's fundraiser and garage sale. The garage sale will be from 7am – 3pm and Schwans will be from 9am – 3pm. For more information call (870) 492-2101.

Apr. 10-11 - A Gun and Knife Show will be held at the Stone County Fairgrounds in Mountain View, Arkansas. The Saturday hours are 9AM-5PM and Sunday from 9AM-4PM. All proceeds from this twice-yearly event are to be used to purchase firefighting and medical equipment for the Timbo Volunteer Fire Department and fire responders.

Apr. 17-19 - The action drama "The Battle" will be performed will be shown at Mountain View Christian Church starting at 7PM each night. Apr. 24 - Travis' Barber Shop in Thayer will be holding a Locks of Love Drive event from 8AM-6PM. Hair and cash donations will be accepted, with both going to Locks of Love. For more information call Travis at 417-505-9967.

Apr. 24 - The Twin Lakes Literacy Council are holding a 5K Run for Reading, beginning at 7:30AM at ASU-Mountain Home. The cost is $25/person.

May 8 - The Ozarks Family YMCA is having a Strong Y Golf Tournament. Deadline for registration is May 1. For more information call 417-926-6737.

May 13 & 14 - The Bass Cat Owners Invitational Fishing Tournament on Lake Norfork is scheduled for May 13 & 14. It is held on a Thursday & Friday, with registration on Wednesday evening.

May 15, 22, 29 - The city of West Plains will be having CERT, or Citizen Emergency Response Training from 8AM-5PM at South Howell County Ambulance on Route K. There is no cost for the training. For more information, call Kent Edge at 256-7176.

May 22 - The Pride of the Ozarks Goat Breeder's Club presents Goats Galore at the Heart of the Ozarks Fairgrounds in West Plains. The event includes a petting zoo and an open dairy and meat goat show. The event is free.

Registration is available for the Spring Community Education classes offered at South Central Career Center. Classes are set up on a short-term basis and are available in computer applications, technical training, personal enrichment, and culinary delights. All classes will be starting this month. Monday
The South Central Missouri Kennel Club will have their monthly meeting the 3rd Monday of each month with potluck @ 6:30pm and meeting @7pm. Anyone is welcome to attend to find out more.

Tuesday
Western Square Dances are held every Tuesday night at the West Plains Civic Center. For more information call Mary at 417-284-7141 or Julia at 417-256-7717.

The Howell County Democrats' Club meets on the second Tuesday of the even # months at 6:30 PM. We meet in Mountain View in February and August, and in Willow Springs in April and October, and in West Plains in June and December. All Democrats are invited to attend. Wednesday
A "Song Writer's Workshop" will be hosted from 6-7PM Wednesdays at Bogart's Variety Theater in Mammoth Spring. For more information call Bob Ross at 264-7015.

Farmers Market of Cabool will be located on Main Street in the Gazebo from 1-6 p.m on Wednesdays.

The West Plains Farmer's Market is every Wednesday from 11:30am till 4pm on Washington Street in West Plains.

Thursday

The West Plains Farmer's Market is every Saturday from 11:30am till 4pm on Washington Street in West Plains.

Sunday
A new Biblically conservative Lutheran Church group will offer worship services on the odd Sundays of each month. The worship services will be at 6 PM at the OMC Foundation Community Room, located at 403 Washington Ave. For more information call (870) 424-2888.

The Pioneer Saddle Club will have a rodeo every Tuesday evening at 7pm except for Fair Week at the Pioneer Saddle Club Arena, located 1/2 mile up Highway 14 on the left.

The Willow Springs YMCA offers an exercise class for senior adults ages 60 and over. This class is on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, from 8 to 9 p.m. The YMCA is located at 405 West Main Street. The Willow Springs YMCA offers Pilate’s classes on Mondays and Thursdays from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. located at 405 West Main Street.

The Ozark Independent Living will be visiting Eminence the 4th Thursday of each month in the Eminence Senior Citizens Center from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Free informational services are provided for the disabled and elderly such as assistive devices, legislative efforts, peer support, advocacy, TAP, TAP Internet, and information and referrals. Independent In-Home services include basic personal care, nurse visits, advanced personal care, respite, and homemaker chores. There is also Consumer Directed Services for your home. “Branson Bound” with Sunny Aaron will be on the RTO Theatre stage at the Evergreen Center; the former Oregon County Country Music Theater in Thayer starting on April 16th and every Friday at 7 p.m. Admission is $6 for adults and $4 for students. Special guest this week is J.R. Briggs and special guest next week is Cathie Bair. A different special guest will be featured each week.

Vets for Veterans will meet the 1st and 3rd Wednesdays of each month from 7-9 p.m. at the Cabool Church of the Brethren located at 1003 Garst St. in Cabool. This is a safe haven for the vets to meet with a non religious agenda and any vet is welcome. Information will be provided for the vets about benefits they may not know they are eligible for, like P.T.S.D. and other physical and mental problems, and also loans for education. The West Plains Habitat for Humanity Re-Store is open Wednesday, Thursday, and Fridays from eight to five and Saturdays from nine to one. It’s on Porter Wagoner Blvd. in West Plains. They sell used building materials and take donations of the same. Call 417-256-1576.

Meetings for The Texas County Memorial Hospital breastfeeding support group are held every fourth Thursday from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. in the education room at the hospital. Susan Johnson, a registered nurse and childbirth educator at TCMH, will facilitate the breastfeeding support group. The group is open to mothers that are currently breastfeeding or expectant mothers who are planning to. Mothers may bring their breastfeeding children to the meeting. The support group is free but those that are attending are asked to sign up with the department.
